What To Expect

FITO Museum
Covering an area of 600m2, the museum has five floors with 24 rooms, of which 16 are designed for displaying the exhibits. On the upper floor, there is a hall to worship two ancestors of the Vietnamese traditional medicine, including Tue Tinh and Hai Thuong Lan Ong or Le Huu Trac.

There are more than 3,000 objects dating back to the Stone Age on display featuring the unique value of the museum. Among the objects are collections of instruments used in medicine production such as knives, grinders, pots, and jars, as well as characteristic household objects, namely, scales, cabinets, teapots, and ceramics.

Binh Tay Market
Cholon’s main market has a great clock tower and a central courtyard with gardens. Much of the business here is wholesale but it’s popular with tour groups. The market was originally built by the French in the 1880s; Guangdong-born philanthropist Quach Dam paid for its rebuilding and was commemorated by a statue that is now in the Fine Arts Museum. Expect a friendly welcome when you sit down for breakfast or coffee with the market's street-food vendors.

Ba Thien Hau Temple
This gorgeous 19th-century temple is dedicated to the goddess Thien Hau, and always attracts a mix of worshippers and visitors who mingle beneath the large coils of incense suspended overhead. It is believed that Thien Hau can travel over the oceans on a mat and ride the clouds to save people in trouble on the high seas.

Antique Street
The best of the arts and antiques stores along Ð Le Cong Kieu near the Fine Arts Museum. This shop overflows with interesting discoveries and is owned by the family of the gracious Nguyen Thi Hien, one of HCMC's most respected artists. Covering many different styles and techniques, much of the artwork on display is painted by her.
